What’s your favorite camera?

I get this question a lot, especially around this time of year. And, really, I’m not that qualified to answer it because, though I’ve had a lot of cameras, they’ve only been one brand. Canon. I tend to stick with what I’m familiar with. But, for those of you who have called and asked, here’s a list of my favorite Canon cameras just in case you need to put one on you Christmas list.

If you’re intimidated by a digital SLR and not ready to make that kind of commitment, you may like the Canon PowerShot SX20IS.

The Canon Powershot was the camera I got when I was too scared to get the digital SLR and it served me very well for 2 years. I loved the pictures that I got with this camera, though mine was the older version.

This camera has 12 megapixels, takes HD video and has image stabilizer which is very useful when you are really zooming in on something.

You can leave it on auto or you can learn more about its really wonderful settings by reading my using your camera series. It has some really great advanced settings.

Another bonus feature I found handy with this camera was the LCD screen that opens up and moves out. You can also tilt it. I found myself using it more often than I thought I would.

Want something smaller?

The Canon PowerShot SD1200IS is what my sister is getting for Christmas this year. Her requirements were small, easy to use and light-weight. Everyone wants something different from a camera, that’s why there are so many choices out there.

The Canon Elph has always been a favorite of mine because of its size. It’s small enough to carry in your pocket or purse. This one comes in colors and I love the blue.

It does not take video, but it does have a 10 megapixel resolution and a 2.5 inch LCD screen. It has a lithium rechargeable battery, another plus to my sister who was tired of buying batteries for her old camera.

Ready for something with more options?

Then I have to tell you about the camera I use now.

They’ve changed the Canon EOS Rebel T1i a little since I got mine two years ago. It now has a bigger LCD screen, 15 megapixels and it now shoots video (which seems a little strange to me for some reason). The advantage to this camera over the others is not only the advanced settings, but the ability to use a variety of lenses to help you get the shot you want.

I am a camera lover! I could get one every year for Christmas and not be disappointed. How about you? Do you have a favorite camera worth sharing?

I have been very happy with my Nikon D80, although they came out with the D90 not long after I purchased my camera. *sigh* And the D90 has video! I love short video clips– we watch them all the time. Video from the camcorder? Uhhh… we NEVER watch those.

I highly recommend the Kodak EZ share cameras for a point and shoot. EXCELLENT picture quality. I really want an SLR, but haven't been able to afford one yet.

My mom bought me the Canon SX20IS for my birthday in November and so far I love it. I need to play around with it a lot more but it takes great pictures and I love the fact that the LCD screen tilts.

I got the Canon Xsi last year for Christmas and it was worth every penny I paid for it after the very first pics I took of my kids for Christmas cards….I actually had people ask me where I had them made…imagine my giddiness when I said…"I took them in front of our tree!"This summer however, I wanted a smaller point and shoot to carry around at the beach…I only pulled my Xsi out one evening for formal shots on the beach…it seemed too risky to me…even with a uv filter over my lens.I researched for a while and went into stores a million times to put my "hands on" them. I fell in love with the Canon PowerShot SD780…it was the size of a credit card! But, it only had a 3X zoom…not sure why Canon couldn't have done better with this. So I went with the SD960 IS Digital Elph. Almost identical…but with a 4X zoom. Love the pics I've captured with this!Although I have to say once you go SLR…it's hard to ever appreciate a point and shoot as much again.

I also have a Nikon D80 and love it. I think Canons are lighter, because I was handed one the other day by a friend to take a picture and I noticed that it was not as heavy as my camera. Which can be nice when you add a big lens on the front. That said, I love my Nikon. Love it. Love the options it has and how easy it is to figure out. And I bought mine used off Craigslist…when all the pros were updating to the D90, I bought my D80 for a steal.

Thanks to my wonderful sister and her hubby I have a Canon Rebel XSi. I love it! My first digital camera was a Kodak Easyshare. It's a nice camera too and I've taken LOTS of pictures over the years with it. I wanted something a little smaller so I can tuck it in my pocket easily so I got a Canon PowerShot SD1100IS Digital Elph. This one DOES have video capabilities. I love the different colors too and am partial to the blue. :)

Since I've never even HELD a Canon, how can I be non judgemental? I can't compare the two big name brands. I love my D300, but if it's too much camera for someone, I agree with the other Nikon owners…the D90 is fabulous for the money. Video would be killer.Truly, I'm all about the lenses now, I'm way past the camera stuff. ;) I want a 35mm and a 105 macro next. How about you?

I love my Canon 50D which I have only owned this year. Am still learning to drive it though- my goodness, the manual is a tad overwhelming!
