A little art

I’ve neglected art lately. That happens. It sneaks up on me and suddenly I want to do art with the kids. When I saw Meg’s post the other day, I knew this was something easy we could do. I love easy. I’m all about the easy.

Not only was it easy, it was outside. Easy cleanup, double goodness.

Georgia O’Keeffe was the inspiration for this project and I was sad I hadn’t prepared in advance and gotten library books about her. Maybe next time. We walked around the yard zooming in with our eyes on the flowers.

While we were out there a gigantic horsefly zoomed around, scaring the life out of Emeline who hates flying bugs. I swear this one was huge, possibly it was a small bird.

I killed it though. No one was harmed, except the abnormally large horsefly.

I forget how much I enjoy art. We should really do it more often.

  • I followed your link to her page (had never been there, love it!) and we're also going to do this soon. Glad it went so well for you all...did you use watercolor paper? I couldn't find any, so we'll be using just heavier duty paper. Hope it turns out. Thanks for her link and for showing your beautiful artwork!
  • we did use watercolor paper because we happened to have it. but i've done
watercolor projects before without it. use what you have!

Artsy fartsy! We have neglected it too, we are supposed to be doing it on Friday now, I need inspiration though! This helps! :)
  • horseflies bad. art good! we should do art more too, but my boys NEVER ask to do it... all they do is complain. Maybe we should try mud painting?
