Breakfast in a hurry

This is sponsored content by BlogHer and Kelloggs.

Most of our days are slow and easy, but there are times when we are more rushed and Sundays are one of those busy days. We leave in two groups, my husband takes the early birds and I bring in the slackers. This means we are rarely at the table at the same time, and no one bothers to cook breakfast.

Lunch is the meal focus on Sundays because my whole family shows up after church to eat. My mind is on pre-heating the oven, having a clean table and my aunt and uncle dropping off dishes for lunch later on their way to church.

Breakfast on these days are whatever you can grab:  fix it yourself or go hungry. If I’m on top of my game I can pop some canned cinnamon rolls in the oven. But more often than not, we grab something in a wrapper, bypassing not only the stove, but also plates and bowls. If we have time for a bowl, cereal is our best option. It’s yummy, easy and 3 out of 4 of my children can fix it themselves.

For breakfast on those rushed days what I make depends on how tight the rush is.

If I have 15 minutes, I’ll pop a frozen waffle into the toaster.

If I have 10 minutes, I can make a bowl of cereal.

Just 5 minutes? Well, that’s going to have to be breakfast in a wrapper on the run.

At a minimum, we have to sit and have a bowl of cereal and a bottle of water. I'm lenient about a lot, but not about this ;)
