Sunset

Because of all the trees in my backyard, I rarely see a sunset. It’s a shame because I sleep too late to ever see a sunrise. But tonight, at a birthday party, I was in a perfect position to see a sunset.

It thrilled me.

My husband stood there patiently for me holding our daughter while I snapped many pictures.

He didn’t even have to smile.

It made me want to build a new house on a hill where I can see the sunset every night.

Do you get to see the sunset where you live?

I love all of these, but the third one where you can see her piggies… my heart just melted all the way into a puddle.

Also, we do get a beautiful sunset here… especially if you drive 45 minutes west and watch it at the beach :)

We live in the hills, but can see the sunset. It was much more pronounced in Mississippi when we were visiting the in-laws. It when on forever there.

Beautiful pictures! The last one is my favorite, the silhouettes are heart warmingly sweet. Her little arms are reaching out and her baby pigtails are perfectly outlined! It reminds of a Father's Day card (:

Our house has great sunset views. Just last night we were gazing over the horizon, it was swirled with pinkish, orangey purple tones. I'm glad you got to see such a gorgeous one where you live too!

During summer we get the sunsets. During winter the sun is behind a stack of trees.
    Lovely, lovely shots!

We have the same dilemma – lots of big old trees in our yard. The biggest culprit – a 100yr old maple is so beautiful though – especially in the fall – it's worth missing sunsets :) I'm thinking though that when we move to TX – lots of wide open spaces, right? Now if I can just get up early enough to enjoy the sunrises occasionally…. Gorgeous sunset shots, Melissa!

no sunset here, but I'm loving the idea of a house on a hill with a wrap around porch to watch the sunset and storms come in. 2 of my favorite things. Pictures are awesome! Frame one!!!

    Hey friend!

What were you shooting in for this picture. Also, remember a long, long time ago when you hung those birds on branches in your kids play area. How did you hang the branches? I know it seems random, but I was going to hang a few and it was proving to be more challenging than I thought it would. Great to visit you again…look how big your little one is getting!!!!

  • Playingsublimely

OK…duh, your search bar…I found the birds :)

i couldn't remember if i posted how i hung them. glad you found it :) i'll

have to look up the settings on the silhouettes, but i know i was shooting

in manual with my zoom lens (28-105) because it's what i had on at the time.

probably aperture around 3.5 which is as low as it will go. i'll have to

    look up the iso.

Oh my, these are INCREDIBLE!!!!!!! Loved each one. You need to do this more often.

  • MeagansMusings

Look at your great silhouette shots! Love them! I tried some this weekend, but I don't think the sun was low enough yet. I'll have to try it again soon.

These are beautiful. We actually get fabulous sunsets but when you live in the city you don't have much of a view. Someday I am going to have to take a drive to get a nice sunset shot.

These are AMAZING!!! I love them! Sunsets are on my list of favorite things, but I get annoyed by the houses that detract from my view. I don't want to be a farmer's wife, but I'd love to live on a farm just to have unobstructed views of the sunset. The sunset in DeSmet, SD at the Ingall's Homestead was beautiful. I'm going to blog about it and post pictures even…really. Except even there, the telephone wires got in the way. Bah!
