Morning rituals

This is sponsored content by BlogHer and Kelloggs.

Years ago when I worked outside the home, my morning ritual was to grab a granola bar and a Coke, hop in the car and eat while I drove. In the 13 years since I’ve been a stay at home mom, my ritual has changed quite a bit. Mornings run at a much easier pace. I have time to think about what I want to eat rather than grab something on the run.

When given a choice, my kids usually pick bacon, eggs and biscuits for breakfast. This is our big morning meal that fill everyone up for a few hours.

Even though it’s not a grab and run meal, it’s still somewhat of an afterthought since breakfast is usually eaten at the table where we are also doing school.

On birthdays we let the guest of honor choose the breakfast. This is the time when I get special requests for chocolate chip pancakes or blueberry muffins. And on Christmas morning it’s almost always cinnamon rolls prepared by dad.

On other days, the monotony of eggs and bacon are occasionally broken up by waffles, and sometimes I’ll get a special request for French toast, but on any given morning you can find my small iron skillet frying bacon. It’s our morning ritual. What’s yours? Leave a comment for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card.

My morning ritual? I don’t really have one – it depends on the day. Sometimes it’s a rush out the door while grabbing some fruit, other days it’s bacon and eggs while I surf the net :)

Most mornings we grab some cereal or granola bars and are on our way but the weekends we cook up some yummy breakfast and sometimes for dinner also.

We don’t really have a special breakfast day but during the fall and winter months, its very common to find pumpkin bread or cake or donuts on the table!

Sunday mornings are always a special morning. We have a big breakfast that varies from week to week as we each take turns picking our favorites! Now that we are older, we all take turns preparing the meal. We turn off the telephone, gather as a family, and share our stories, joke around, and spend quality time together.
