drinks and their accessories

I enjoy a straw with my juice.

There is a new trend around here and it involves a straw with my drink. This started happening when I bought one of those thick plastic cups with a lid and its own hard plastic straw. I enjoyed using it every morning with my cold Coke over ice. I looked forward to it even more than usual.

When that cup broke, I kept using a straw with my Coke. It just felt right. Then I started using a straw with my juice drink (a new beverage recently added to my very limited preferences, recipe to follow below). I, in fact, only drink 4 things: milk, coke, my juice, or water. On occasion I can tolerate Welch’s grape juice (over ice in glass).

I think the straw really upgrades the drinking experience.

The exception to this is milk. I can’t handle a straw with milk. It just feels weird (unless it’s a milkshake).  My mom always put ice in her milk. I love cold milk, but ice floating in it just doesn’t work for me.

And what about cups? That’s a whole other story. No milk in a plastic cup. That’s just wrong. Coke only in a glass. Juice can actually go either way. I prefer water in a plastic cup, but never a fast food cup.

My juice:

2 cups of pineapple juice

1/2 can of frozen orange juice

2 tea bags boiled in 2 cups of water

2 cups of sugar

Add all this and fill the rest of your gallon jug up with water. Best over ice with a straw. Glass or plastic cup, your choice.

Tell me a straw doesn’t make everything better.

Milk cannot have ice, and it must be in a glass.  Really, everything is better in glass, but everything except milk is acceptable in hard plastic. Your juice sounds yummy!  With ice, and in glass, of course.

Your juice sounds delicious – was wondering though are the tea bags the large ones?  And I totally agree with you on the milk – in a glass glass and VERY cold!

Drinks and their cups and straws are VERY important. As well as the type of ice floating in it. I prefer a diet coke in a trashy plastic gas station type cup with crushed ice and a fat straw. Sadly though I gave up soda, lol. So now I just go for water. :) Love the mason jar ish cup. May need to try that, perhaps that will fool me into liking the water better!

I love a straw and have always had to drink soda that way.  Too much carbonation otherwise.  Although, the other day I got out once of my fancy crystal ice tea glasses and have been drinking everything in that.  Makes it more elegant and I think I’m becoming addicted to that glass.  Might have to post about it now that you have inspired me!

interesting with the addition of tea.

yup, straws definitely make everything better. but just be careful. i once saw this lady that used a straw for EVERYTHING. yup, it kept her teeth from getting stained but it also kind of gave her those wrinkles that smokers get around her mouth. know what i mean? it’s that puckered face look.

i have to balance the straw vs. non straw drinking.

i am driven by my vanity like that. (also the only reason why i wear sunglasses… reduce wrinkles from squinting.)
