A clean start

A couple of times I year I have to do a complete overhaul of the homeschool room. It just gets to a point that I can’t stand it anymore. Over and over again I’ve wished for a dedicated room for homeschooling, but all that wishing and I’ve still only got a dining room/homeschool room. So I have to make the best of it.

It’s not a very big space, but we have it crammed with lots of stuff. I bought the big black cabinet years ago to hold our homeschool stuff. I can’t believe how quickly we outgrew it. It is packed with books, paper, supplies and things we might need. Homeschooling a bunch of kids is just like dealing with clothes. You have to decide if it’s worth it to hang on to something and use it again in several years, or get rid of it and start over.

this area is causing me major distress. I'll b working on a solution in the next few days. I'll keep you posted.

This is an instagram shot of the room before I had an extreme urge for change.

That very day I took a shelf out of my bedroom and painted it white. The fishbowl rungs on the side were a killer to paint.

I thought the clean white against my white wall would make it look a little less cluttered.

Today was our 100th day, give or take, of school.

It’s always good to start the day in a clean, organized room.

What a lovely space. We also have a shared space for our classroom

i admire how quickly you can decide to change something and get.it.done. i have had this nightstand and a can of bright yellow spraypaint sitting in my living room for the past 5 months!

my desk is a mess. my house is a mess. my schoolroom is a disaster. and we are supposed to start full force on monday (as opposed to our current light school). if i can’t cook until all my dishes are washed, then imagine how impossible it is for me to start school with a disgusting school room (that currently also houses kitchen items, pack & play, and a big bouncy/jumper/babythingy). bleh.

i’m making excuses for myself. feel free to ignore me.
